The first books for soprano and alto recorder can be used while working one's way through a beginning recorder method and offer rewarding musical experiences with modest technical demands. The second volumes are of slightly great technical and musical difficulty but still extremely accessible for the neophyte recorder player. The music selected represents a broad spectrum of materials suitable for the recorder, intelligently selected and well-edited by the noted English recorder player and teacher Walter Bergmann. Note: a revised First Descant Book edited by Sally Adams has replaced the original Bergman volume, which is now out of print and no longer available.
